It feels like a brief moment in time but nearly 13 weeks have passed since coursework in MHST601 began.

Many of the pieces of learning we've undertaken in this course have felt very close to the work I do on a daily basis. The piece I didn't expect to immediately see was how much I could intertwine the various reflections, resources, and assignments into my daily work at my full time job.

Understanding the foundation of Canadian healthcare and the more about the Canada Health Act peaked my interest, because in my work I am now acutely aware of budgets and obligations to meet the needs of several competing demands of healthcare. Linking contributions to a budget to the social determinants of health to the impact on chronic illnesses that individuals live their life with, has left me with more desire than ever to continue the work I've been doing in upstream prevention and communicable disease control.

I have thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to collaborate with others and provide feedback on the various blog posts my colleagues have shared. A pleasant side effect of the sometimes overwhelming workload this course has brought to my life is the way the content has helped me remember the reasons why I decided to take the winding road of healthcare.

I knew that becoming a healthcare professional would not be easy and at times I have questioned my choices while at the rock bottom of tragedies had to witness. However, the ability to see how far we've come as I've reviewed the course content and the important work that remains to be done, has left me excited to continue on with more good work.

Please stay tuned for Assignments 3 and 4 as I complete my ePortfolio and finish final reflections on all of the work I've done.
